About Kempton

Kempton successfully completed the International Sommelier Guild exam in October 2001 & considers himself "The Anti-Wine Snob".  Most recently, he toured with Holland America Lines as guest Chef  & Sommelier along with Chef Raj Gupta.  Currently, he is very busy working on a variety of projects that include: North America's largest wine website wine.appellationamerica.com, consulting with hotels and restaurants, and providing food and wine seminars.

He says about himself, “I enjoy teaching wine education to all levels of wine students and welcome all questions. My favorite red grape is Pinot Noir, my favorite white is Riesling. I encourage everyone to try new grape varietals and wines from different countries and to look outside of the box when pairing foods with these wines.”

Born and raised in the Annapolis Valley, Kempton spent 29 years working in the food & beverage industry.  This included 16 years at the Casino Nova Scotia / Sheraton Hotel as Banquet Captain, Beverage Manager and Sommelier.  He is a former Treasurer and  Director for the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers / Atlantic Chapter. Since 2012 he has been the lone Nova Scotian judge at the All Canadian Wine Championships.
