Individual Tasting Choices

Tastings are done in the privacy of your home, office, or meeting room. The actual total cost will vary based upon the number of people, the specific wines, the actual time length of the tasting, and the travel distance. You should assume a minimum of $150 (a two-hour tasting with one hour of setup time, at $50/hour). Twelve or twenty-four people are ideal.

Wine Basics – Learn basic wine tasting techniques and wine characteristics. Through comparative blind tastings, you’ll learn how to distinguish dry from sweet, oaked from unoaked, buttery from light and clean, full-bodied from light-bodied, crisp from low acidity, and tannic from silky smooth.

Ciao Baby! The Wines of Italy – Taste and learn about wines from the major wine regions of Italy, including: Piedmont, Veneto, Tuscany, Sardinia, Puglia, Sicily.

This Isn’t Cabernet! – Tired of Merlot and Chardonnay? Explore some of the world’s greatest yet overlooked wine grapes. You’ll taste wines made from Chenin Blanc, Viognier, Semillon, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, Barbera, Cabernet Franc, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Syrah.

Does Price Matter? – Does price really matter? By blind tasting and comparing similar wines at three different price levels, you’ll decide for yourself if it is worth it to pay more. Wines can be all white, all red, or both.

Bubbles Galore  – Great sparkling wines are made all over the world. Learn how sparkling wines are made and taste versions from France, Spain, Italy, America, and Australia. Styles vary from dry to sweet, semi- to full-sparkling, and even white to red!

Nova Scotian and Proud of it – Try an assortment of N.S. wines from various wineries, and discuss how they are lovely food friendly wines.

New World Upstarts – Who are these new upstarts challenging the traditional winemaking countries? You’ll taste wines from countries that have only recently been recognized as worthy to be counted among the great winemaking countries of the world. Your tour of the New World will take you to Niagara, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, and Chile.

Summertime Quenchers – When it’s summer you want wines that are light and refreshing. In this tasting you’ll sample wines from around the world that are perfect for barbeques, sipping on the deck, and beating the heat. Whether it’s white, pink, red, or even sparkling, these clean, fresh, low-alcohol wines will make your day .

Say What? – Discover the odd-ball wines that you are afraid to grab off the store shelves. Try whites like Scheurebe , Arneis, Ehrenfelser, or reds such as Dornfelder, Tannat, Carmenere, or Zweigelt . Well worth the adventure.

It’s All About The Pinot, Baby! – Yeah, okay, so this is my favourite. Let me make it your favourite as well. Try Pinot Noir from around the world and take note of the different styles and imagine what great food pairings we can come up with.
